99.5 Sea FM will be launching one its major fundraising tactics “Dunk Your Boss” on Tuesday 11 June 2013; for its annual Give Me 5 for Kids charity initiative with the aim of raising $55,000 for the children’s ward at Cairns Base Hospital as part of a huge, nation-wide campaign.
Community members are being urged to listen to 99.5 Sea FM for details on how they can become involved in this important cause by supporting 99.5 Sea FM and their local fundraising events. This year, for the first time, online donating will also be possible via giveme5forkids.com.au.
99.5 Sea FM’s involvement in the Give Me 5 for Kids charity is part of parent company, Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) Australia-wide campaign which launched in the late 90’s as a simple coin drive and is traditionally rolled out throughout the month of June. The campaign will utilise an extensive SCA regional network of 36 radio markets plus 8 television markets to drive donations.
Dunk Your Boss Day will occur right here at Cairns Coconut Resort on Friday 21 June 2013. 99.5 Sea FM will be encouraging workplaces to raise a minimum $500 to Dunk Your Boss underneath the tipping bucket of water at the Cairns Coconut Resort. When Mayor Bob Manning’s Office heard of this fundraising initiative, they jumped on board straight away.
“The Mayor (Bob) is a fantastic boss, always up for a challenge and a bit of fun! So I had no second thoughts about nominating him…he’s always willing to support worthy charities and I wasn’t going to let this chance go by!” Said Personal Assistant to The Mayor, Annie Morris.
To launch Dunk Your Boss, Mayor Bob Manning will be dunked at the Cairns Coconut Resort in Woree on Tuesday 11 June at 7am.
99.5 Sea FM staff members have also rustled up the donation and will support their own fundraising initiative by dunking General Manger Gina Hogan also on the launch day, Tuesday 11 June.
Last year, following the support of local community groups, SCA raised a history breaking record 1.9 million dollars for Give Me 5 For Kids. In 2013, again via the combined efforts of all SCA markets, the goal is to exceed last year’s total.
In launching Give Me 5 For Kids in 2013 Southern Cross Austereo CEO Rhys Holleran said , “Giving back to local communities is a priority for our business and Give Me 5 For Kids has been a key component in raising funds for almost two decades. It’s an initiative that every Southern Cross Austereo market looks forward to and it ensures all funds raised stay in the communities we serve. We’re proud of our local stations which are creating unique fundraising events and we urge all our supporters to give generously.”
